Cambodian authorities have successfully reclaimed 14 hectares of state forest land illegally cleared in the Kampong Thom province. The encroachment occurred in the O’Chamlorng Tai area of Mean Rith commune, Sandan district. Investigations are underway to identify the individuals responsible for the deforestation, with legal proceedings already started for the remaining four hectares. The reclaimed land represents a significant portion of the estimated 18 hectares that were illegally cleared. This action demonstrates a commitment to protecting Cambodia’s natural resources. Authorities released a statement on June 23rd detailing the recovery efforts and ongoing investigations. The outcome of the legal proceedings and the identification of the offenders are still pending.
