Cambodia has launched Khmerica, a comprehensive digital library containing a significant collection of French-language documents relating to its history. This initiative makes previously inaccessible rare books, newspapers, and historical records available to the public. The archive, the largest of its kind dedicated to Cambodia, aims to preserve the nation’s documentary heritage. The project was launched by the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and represents a major effort to reclaim and protect Cambodia’s national memory. The digitization process ensures the long-term preservation of fragile materials and broadens access for researchers and citizens. Khmerica offers a valuable resource for understanding Cambodia’s past, particularly its colonial period, and fostering cultural understanding. The archive’s revival highlights a commitment to safeguarding the country’s historical narrative.
