A 21-year-old woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died in a tragic accident during a bungy jump in São Paulo, Brazil. According to reports from the New York Post and People, Freitas fell approximately 40 meters after being launched from a disused bridge known as “Lurankosilta” (Skeleton Bridge). Investigators are reporting that employees of the company operating the jump failed to properly connect her harness to the bungy cord before initiating the jump. The incident is being investigated as a result of apparent equipment failure and negligence. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the jump and the safety protocols in place. The video footage of the incident is reported to be disturbing.
