Seventh-grade students in Bulgaria completed a national external assessment in Bulgarian language and literature, requiring them to retell a work from the perspective of a character, specifically a piece by writer and screenwriter Hristo Rayanov. Simultaneously, tenth-grade students were assessed on their analytical skills, responding to a prompt based on Peyo Yavorov’s “Armenians.” The assessments are a standardized measure of student learning. Details regarding the specific content of the assessments were released by educational authorities. These national evaluations are a key component of the Bulgarian education system. The tests aim to gauge students’ comprehension and critical thinking abilities in Bulgarian language and literature. Further results and analysis of the assessments are expected to be published subsequently.
