Bulgaria has announced a significant investment plan to modernize its weaponry and military infrastructure. Over the next decade, the country will spend more than €19 billion to upgrade its defense capabilities. To fund these acquisitions, direct defense expenditures will gradually increase from 2% to 3.5% of the national GDP by 2035. This strategic shift aims to enhance the country's security posture through substantial capital injections. The plan includes both the procurement of new equipment and the development of supporting military infrastructure. Additionally, annual funds will be allocated for various defense-related supporting activities. This long-term financial commitment reflects a prioritized focus on national security and military readiness.
