Slovakia’s National Highway Company (NDS) has received surprisingly low bids from construction companies in recent tenders. While highway authorities estimated a 15-kilometer expressway near Rimavská Sobota would cost around 400 million euros, builders are now proposing to complete the project for as little as 150 million euros. This significant difference in estimated versus proposed costs has raised eyebrows within the industry. The information comes from two sources consulted by the Denník E newspaper. The unexpectedly low bids suggest a highly competitive market or potential underestimation of project complexities. Further investigation is needed to fully understand the reasons behind this substantial price reduction for infrastructure work near Rimavská Sobota.
