Bucharest has inaugurated a new type of museum – a “living museum” – with “exhibits” spread throughout the city. These “exhibits” aren’t housed in a traditional building, but are instead 68 projects completed by citizens, civil society, and local authorities. The projects focus on bringing nature back into Bucharest and preserving existing natural spaces, demonstrating a vision for a beautiful and thriving city that doesn’t rely on concrete and paving. This innovative approach highlights successful collaborations between residents and the municipality. The initiative showcases how urban environments can flourish through prioritizing natural elements. The “living museum” aims to inspire further environmentally conscious development within Bucharest. It emphasizes a shift towards valuing nature’s role in the urban landscape.
