Service on Bucharest’s Metro Line 4 was temporarily suspended on Tuesday afternoon following a partial tunnel collapse during construction work. The incident occurred between the 1 Mai and Jiului stations, halting train traffic for approximately one hour beginning at 1:20 PM local time. Metrorex, the Bucharest Metro operator, reported no injuries as a result of the collapse. The disruption was caused by an unforeseen technical issue during work to connect Line 4 with the future Line 6. Crews were dispatched to assess and repair the damage, and service has since resumed. Metrorex communicated the situation to passengers, citing the unexpected technical problem. Further details regarding the cause of the collapse are currently under investigation.
