Bucharest City Hall reports an “absurd situation” hindering crucial seismic upgrades to buildings marked as high-risk (“bulină roșie”). Despite securing European funds and completing project plans, the process is stalled by dissenting property owners within affected buildings. Currently, two buildings face this issue, where the majority of residents support consolidation, but a few families are objecting. This opposition prevents the city from proceeding with the urgently needed renovations, effectively blocking access to vital funding. The City Hall states it will now pursue legal action to resolve the disputes and enable the upgrades. The delays pose a significant safety risk to residents in vulnerable structures. The municipality emphasizes the importance of the consolidation program for the safety of the city and its inhabitants.
