Brazil is set to become a regular borrower in the Chinese market, planning annual sales of yuan-denominated bonds. A senior treasury official announced the intention to issue these bonds consistently, establishing the yuan as a permanent component of Brazil’s external debt. The first sale is anticipated before year-end, though the amount will be modest and won't significantly impact Brazil’s overall debt levels, currently at four percent of federal stock. This move signals a deepening financial relationship between Brazil and China. According to Francisco Segundo, deputy secretary for public debt, the bond sales are part of a broader strategy.
