A traffic expert, Rastislav Cenký, states that significant improvements to Bratislava’s road network, including the city bypass and D1 highway intersection, have prevented traffic from worsening, but haven’t eliminated congestion. Cenký, who has consulted on major Bratislava projects and currently advises the Banská Bystrica region, suggests drivers may not perceive a substantial change. He attributes this to a combination of factors including numerous access roads and existing parking policies. While acknowledging the implemented measures have had a positive effect, he indicates that complete resolution of traffic issues is unlikely. The bypass and related infrastructure were designed to mitigate further increases in congestion rather than fully alleviate existing problems. The expert suggests the current situation represents a stabilization, not a significant improvement, for Bratislava commuters.
