A returnee village, Očijevo, located 50km from Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been without electricity for nearly three decades. This lack of power severely impedes the ability of displaced people to rebuild their lives and return to their homes. Currently, around twenty households remain in Očijevo, with a similar number wishing to return. The absence of electricity presents a significant obstacle to repopulation and normal life in the village. Locals traditionally gather on Ilindan, but the ongoing electrical deficit overshadows any celebrations. The situation highlights lingering issues of post-war infrastructure and the difficulties faced by communities seeking to rebuild. Addressing this basic need is crucial for the village’s future.
