Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) reports a significant number of citizens are coming forward with corruption reports, but lack confidence in official protection mechanisms. Between 2022 and 2025, institutions received 44 requests for whistleblower protection. Simultaneously, TI BiH directly received 133 reports from whistleblowers during the same period, indicating greater trust in civil society organizations. This disparity suggests a weakness in governmental systems designed to safeguard those reporting wrongdoing. TI BiH emphasizes that effective anti-corruption efforts are impossible without robust whistleblower protection. The data highlights a continuing need to strengthen legal frameworks and build confidence in official channels for reporting corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This lack of trust hinders efforts to combat corruption effectively.
