The Coalition for Free and Fair Elections “Pod Lupom” (Under the Lens) has reported that Election Day for the 2026 General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina was successful overall. This positive assessment is largely attributed to the introduction of new election technologies, specifically biometric voter identification and authentication systems. These technologies also included optical ballot scanning, enhancing the process’s transparency. Despite these improvements, the coalition acknowledges that irregularities still occurred during the election. The implementation of these new systems represents a significant step forward in strengthening the integrity of elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Further efforts will be necessary to address the remaining concerns and ensure completely fair and transparent future elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The report was initially published by Sarajevo Times.
