BRAC Bank has reported record profits for the first six months of the year, largely due to its majority stake in mobile financial service provider bKash. The bank owns 51 percent of bKash shares, entitling it to 51 percent of bKash’s profits. bKash generated a profit of 4.12 billion Bangladeshi Taka (approximately $38.4 million USD) in the first six months of the current year. This significant income from bKash substantially contributed to BRAC Bank's overall financial performance. The substantial profits reflect the growing popularity and usage of mobile financial services in Bangladesh. This positive financial result demonstrates the successful synergy between the traditional banking sector and the rapidly expanding fintech industry in the country. The results indicate continued growth potential for both bKash and BRAC Bank.
