The Polish discount retailer Biedronka is significantly behind schedule on its expansion plans in Slovakia. Last spring, when opening its first store in Miloslavov near Bratislava, company management promised 50 stores nationwide by the end of the current year. With only three months remaining, Biedronka has only opened 22 stores in Slovakia. This shortfall demonstrates a considerable gap between stated ambitions and actual progress. Even a smaller retailer from Horehronie has opened more stores. The pace of new store openings has slowed recently, exacerbating the discrepancy between the promised 50 locations and current reality, raising questions about the company's commitment to the Slovak market.
