Belgium will provide Ukraine with seven F-16 fighter jets in 2024, according to Defense Minister Theo Franken. The country plans to deliver a total of 53 F-16s to Ukraine by 2029. These deliveries are scheduled to coincide with Belgium receiving new F-35 fighter jets from the United States, which will replace the F-16s in Belgian service. The transfer aims to bolster Ukraine’s air defense capabilities amidst the ongoing conflict. The agreement signifies continued international support for Ukraine’s military efforts. The phased delivery allows Belgium to maintain its air force operational capacity during the transition to the F-35. This commitment follows similar pledges from other nations to supply Ukraine with advanced military equipment.
