Bank of Africa (BOA) has reimbursed ABCO Bourse following fraudulent transfers totaling 2.5 billion francs CFA. The Dakar Research Section is currently investigating the case, with several individuals already in custody. The scandal is causing significant disruption within the banking sector of the UEMOA zone. Investigations revealed that funds were fraudulently transferred from BOA customer accounts to International DIA Business Services, led by Ismaëla Dia, with ABCO Bourse among the victims. Bridge Bank has also reported suspicious activity on its client accounts. BOA initiated an audit after discovering the suspicious transfers originated from an unfamiliar email address and not from ABCO Bourse, who deny initiating the transactions. The investigation has led to the tracing of funds to chèques connected to International DIA Business Services and Établissements Gouye Mbind Traiteur.
