A key 275-megawatt unit at the Barapukuria coal-fired power plant in Dinajpur, Bangladesh, resumed electricity generation after a 29-day outage. The restart, confirmed by chief engineer Abu Bakkar Siddique, began at 9:30 PM on Tuesday, June 23rd. Currently, the unit is contributing 160 megawatts to the national grid. Authorities indicate that electricity production will be gradually increased. The Barapukuria plant is a significant contributor to Bangladesh’s power supply, and the unit’s return to service will help address energy demands. This resumption follows a period of maintenance or repairs that caused the initial shutdown.
