The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASD), a Bangladeshi political party, commemorated the 32nd death anniversary of Jahanara Imam, a key figure in the formation of the People's Court which prosecuted war criminals. A brief memorial meeting was held at Colonel Taher Auditorium on Friday, June 26th, organized by the party’s central executive committee. Attendees paid tribute to Imam by laying flowers at her portrait. Jahanara Imam is widely known as “Shheed Jononi” (Martyr Mother) for her activism. The event honored her legacy as a pioneer in seeking justice for atrocities committed during the Liberation War. Veteran freedom fighter Shafi Uddin was among those present at the commemoration. The JASD’s observance underscores the continuing significance of Imam’s work and the pursuit of accountability for war crimes in Bangladesh.
