Rakibul Islam Tanu, representing Asia Post and Asia TV, and Dip Roy, from the Daily Ajker Khabar, were attacked, with accusations directed towards Hasanuzzaman, an accountant at the Patuakhali 250-bed Hospital, and others. The journalists were investigating claims of misconduct when the incident occurred. Tanu is currently receiving medical treatment at Patuakhali Medical College Hospital.
