Following instructions from State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed, police in Faridpur’s Saltha Upazila have begun a drive to recover illegal weapons from areas prone to conflict. The initiative focuses on Gotti, Majhardia, and Sonapur Unions. The first phase of the operation commenced on Wednesday, June 10th, in Majhardia Union, with villagers voluntarily surrendering homemade weapons, including shields and spears. In a symbolic gesture, police presented those handing over weapons with marigolds. The effort aims to reduce violence and establish peace in the historically troubled areas. Authorities hope the weapon recovery will contribute to a more secure environment for residents. Further phases of the operation are planned for the remaining target unions.
