Bangladesh’s High Court has established a specialized bench dedicated to swiftly resolving cases related to violence against women and children. The bench, comprised of Justices Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and K.M. Rasheduzzaman Raja, began operations on Sunday, June 14th, according to Attorney General M. Ruhul Quddus Kajol. This initiative prioritizes cases filed under the Suppression of Women and Children Act. The court will initially focus on death reference cases—those involving potential capital punishment—stemming from these offenses. The creation of this specialized bench aims to expedite the legal process and ensure quicker justice for victims. Attorney General Kajol confirmed the commencement of proceedings, signaling a focused effort to address a critical legal backlog. This move reflects a commitment to protecting vulnerable populations and strengthening the rule of law.
