Balochistan’s Home Minister announced the rescue of two underage girls, aged 12 and 16, who were allegedly being prepared for suicide attacks by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The girls, Zainab and Fatima, were recovered during an intelligence-based operation in southern Balochistan, after security forces received credible intelligence regarding the plot. According to officials, the BLA exploited the girls' grief following the deaths of family members – including Zainab’s husband who refused to cooperate with the group – to indoctrinate and recruit them for attacks. Both girls testified to being pressured and manipulated into considering suicide attacks, fuelled by false narratives about the responsibility for their family members’ deaths. The minister highlighted the operation as a success in preventing planned attacks and underscored the security forces’ proactive approach. The rescue demonstrates the BLA’s willingness to exploit vulnerable individuals, particularly children, for terrorist purposes.
