Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) did not attend Monday’s G100 opposition summit in Abuja, according to the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi. Abdullahi clarified that the summit’s primary objective was discussion between political parties themselves, and not directly with the presidential candidates. He revealed this information during an interview on Arise Television's "Day Break" program on Tuesday. The summit aimed to foster collaboration amongst opposition groups, but Atiku’s campaign evidently determined it was not the appropriate forum for candidate engagement at this stage. The ADC believes the summit's format didn't necessitate the presence of presidential hopefuls like Atiku. This absence has sparked questions regarding Atiku's strategy for engaging with other opposition forces.
