An ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) conducted an inspection of Prey Chan village in Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province on June 23rd. The village, located in the Ou Chrou district, experienced significant fighting during last year’s conflicts. Following the clashes, Thai forces partially occupied the area, marking it as one of the first Cambodian territories to fall under occupation. The AOT’s visit focuses on assessing current conditions in the region, which remains a sensitive border area. The inspection aims to observe the situation on the ground and potentially contribute to de-escalation efforts. Details regarding the findings of the inspection have not yet been released. The visit underscores ongoing concerns about the disputed border between Cambodia and Thailand.
