A 23-year-old woman from Rotterdam died in a single-vehicle accident on Aruba last month, and authorities now confirm she was driving the off-road vehicle. The Public Prosecutor’s Office on Aruba reached this conclusion based on video footage. Earlier, the woman’s family expressed disbelief she was driving, describing her as anxious behind the wheel. Kimberly van Ardenne was vacationing on the island with her boyfriend when the UTV they were travelling in overturned for unknown reasons on September 13th. Both male passengers were unharmed, but Van Ardenne died at the scene. While the passengers initially told local authorities she was the driver, her family in the Netherlands questioned this account. The Prosecutor’s Office released this information due to “public attention,” although the investigation is ongoing, prompting criticism from the family’s lawyer, who called the delay in sharing the video footage “cruel and inhumane.”
