Slovak artist Emöke Vargová is showcasing her work at Galéria 19 in Bratislava, focusing on the emotional experience of mothers when their children leave home – often referred to as 'empty nest' syndrome. The exhibition, titled “V pelechu je plno,” approaches this challenging topic with humor and a deliberate avoidance of sentimentality. Vargová’s work depicts a personal connection, referencing her daughter as a “small wild boar.” After years dedicated to sewing, she has returned to painting as her artistic medium for this project. The artist explains the exhibition explores the necessary process for a mother to learn to let go of their children. The work invites reflection on the complexities of maternal love and independence, presented within the context of a unique artistic vision at Galéria 19 in Bratislava.
