Pop star Ariana Grande has publicly objected to the White House’s use of her song “Bye” in a TikTok video promoting the Trump administration’s immigration policies. The video features federal agents arresting and handcuffing individuals while Grande’s music plays. Grande strongly condemned the association, calling the video “barbaric, inhumane, and horrific” in a now-removed comment on the post. Her team is currently working to have the music removed from the video. A White House spokesperson defended the video, stating that “criminal illegal aliens” who have harmed Americans are the true source of barbarity. This is not the first instance of artists protesting the Trump administration’s use of their music without permission; several others, including Neil Young and ABBA, have previously voiced objections and, in some cases, filed lawsuits. Grande has previously expressed criticism of Trump, questioning the benefits of his presidency in a 2025 social media post.
