ANZ Bank New Zealand has announced Ben Kelleher, currently its chief risk officer, will succeed Antonia Watson as chief executive. Watson will retire from the position on September 30th of this year. The appointment was made by ANZ NZ chair Scott St John, who highlighted Kelleher’s leadership qualities and customer focus. St John also emphasized Kelleher’s experience managing large, complex organizations within a heavily regulated sector. The transition aims for continuity as Kelleher is already a senior executive within the bank. Further details regarding the leadership transition plan have not yet been disclosed.
