The ANO party is currently selecting a replacement for Ondřej Prokop, who recently resigned as the leader of their Prague candidate list for the upcoming October municipal elections. Party leadership met on Monday but failed to reach a decision, narrowing the field to three potential candidates. According to ANO’s first deputy chairman, Karel Havlíček, the candidates are familiar with Prague’s municipal politics and are currently members of the Prague candidate list. None of the potential leaders are members of the national parliament. Havlíček indicated a final decision is expected within the next two weeks. The selection process follows Prokop’s unexpected departure and aims to maintain momentum for the party’s electoral campaign in the capital city. The ANO party is currently the strongest party in the Czech governing coalition.
