Algeria has formally protested to FIFA following its 3-0 defeat against Argentina in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match on June 16th. The Algerian Football Federation alleges unfair refereeing decisions influenced the outcome of the game. This complaint revives previous accusations of preferential treatment towards the Argentinian national team, known as the Albiceleste. Algeria is seeking a review of the officiating during the match. The protest centers on perceived bias that negatively impacted Algeria’s chances of success. This is not the first time Argentina has faced accusations of benefiting from favorable treatment in international competitions. FIFA has yet to respond to the formal complaint.
