Algeria is experiencing a paradox: a remarkably abundant cereal harvest coupled with a critical shortage of combine harvesters. The exceptional yield has increased demand for harvesting equipment, creating an unprecedented logistical challenge. Authorities have implemented four emergency measures to expedite the harvest and delivery of grains to the Cooperative of Cereals and Dry Vegetables (CCLS). These measures aim to address the shortfall in machinery and ensure efficient collection of the bumper crop. The situation highlights a potential vulnerability in Algeria’s agricultural infrastructure despite positive production outcomes. The government is working to facilitate the process and prevent potential losses due to the harvest delay. This issue underscores the need for investment in agricultural machinery to support future harvests.
