Albania’s Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has revealed new evidence in its ongoing investigation into former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, escalating pressure on the leading Socialist Party member. The investigation centers around allegations of concealed property ownership. Specifically, a court in Albania has ordered the seizure of a villa located within the Green Coast complex in Palasë, a coastal area in Albania. Prosecutors claim Balluku effectively owned the property but registered it under the name of Igli Tare, a former Albanian international footballer, to hide her ownership. This marks the second villa linked to Balluku that prosecutors are attempting to seize as part of the corruption probe. The case highlights the Albanian government’s efforts to combat high-level corruption.
