The African Union, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have jointly condemned Israel’s ongoing actions in the occupied Palestinian territories. In a statement released Wednesday, the organizations denounced Israeli plans for annexation and settlement construction, deeming them illegal and a violation of international law and UN resolutions. They specifically criticized Israel’s policies as constituting a flagrant breach of international law and infringing upon the fundamental rights of Palestinians, including accusations of apartheid based on race and religion. The groups urged the international community to uphold its legal and political responsibilities by providing international protection to Palestinians and halting Israeli policies of occupation. They reaffirmed their support for a two-state solution based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. Finally, they called for the immediate lifting of all restrictions on the work of UN agencies and other organizations operating in the region.
