Mohammad Abbas of Pakistan achieved a long-sought place on the Lord’s honours board by taking a five-wicket haul against England on Sunday. Despite Abbas’s impressive performance of 5-57, dismissing England for 208 in their second innings, Pakistan faces a challenging target of 389 runs to win the second Test. This chase would require a record-breaking performance, surpassing the current highest successful fourth-innings total at Lord’s of 344. Pakistan’s previous Test performance in this series was poor, suffering a heavy defeat at Headingley and a struggling first innings at Lord’s. Abbas, a 36-year-old veteran, had come close to the five-wicket mark on several occasions previously at Lord’s. Despite a determined effort from Dan Lawrence, scoring 50, Abbas’s skillful bowling ultimately led to England's dismissal.
