A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s Far East. The quake occurred at a depth of 29 kilometers, with its epicenter located 42 kilometers southwest of Nikolskoye. Russian authorities have not yet reported any casualties or significant damage following the seismic event. The earthquake was felt across a sparsely populated region. This event follows a much larger 8.8 magnitude earthquake that impacted the Kamchatka region in July of the previous year. Seismological monitoring continues to assess the potential for aftershocks and further activity in the area. The remoteness of the location may hinder rapid damage assessment.
