Ulaanbaatar city continues its efforts to reduce air pollution by transitioning households and heating plants from coal to gas fuel. In the past year, 5,000 households in Bayangol and Chingeltei districts were switched to gas, with 4,000 homes insulated and 27 gas refueling stations established. D. Mönkhbaatar, head of Ulaanbaatar’s Air Pollution Control Agency, stated the project will continue into the next heating season based on last year's successes. He emphasized the safety of gas compared to coal, projecting a further 5% reduction in air pollution by 2026-2027. Thirty-five boiler plants were converted to gas last year, with work underway this year to convert eight more; two have already been connected.
