TikTok influencer Nogaye Dieng, known as “Nogaye Kara,” appeared in court in Pikine-Guédiawaye after being arrested on the orders of prosecutor Saliou Dicko for public insults and indecent speech directed towards TikToker Mimi, who lives abroad. Detained since October 14th, Kara apologized and requested leniency from the court, having been previously convicted in Dakar for similar offenses. The prosecutor requested a one-month prison sentence, but Kara’s lawyers admitted to the indecent speech charge while contesting the public insult claim. The court dismissed the public insult charge, but found Kara guilty of indecent speech. She was sentenced to a fine of 300,000 FCFA, concluding the legal proceedings initiated following the comments targeting Mimi. The court upheld the offense related to public morals, rejecting the action concerning public insults.
