Mexico’s INE (National Electoral Institute) has reported that Gilberto Mora, the striker for Xolos de Tijuana, has completed the process of registering for his voter ID card. This action fulfills a requirement for all young people in Mexico upon reaching the age of 18. The INE highlighted Mora’s registration as a demonstration of civic responsibility, referring to him affectionately as “Morita.” Staff at the registration module reportedly took photos with the popular player following the completion of the procedure. This registration now allows Mora to participate in future elections in Mexico. The INE views increased participation from public figures as a positive development for encouraging youth voter turnout. The event occurred in Tijuana.
