Seven related individuals have been indicted and released on bail, accused of continuous tax evasion totaling over 7.6 million lei in the metal waste trading sector. Investigators allege that between 2018 and 2019, the accused controlled six companies in Ilfov County that collected ferrous and non-ferrous waste, particularly copper. These companies allegedly sold the collected waste to major recycling operators in the Bucharest – Ilfov area. The scheme involved deliberate efforts to avoid paying taxes on their transactions. The indictment follows a thorough investigation into their financial activities and business practices. The case highlights ongoing efforts to combat financial crime within the metal recycling industry in Ilfov County and the Bucharest – Ilfov region. Prosecutors will now seek to recover the evaded funds and pursue appropriate penalties.
