Tanzania’s Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ashatu Kijaji, has mandated the expedited completion of tourism development projects within the Pugu–Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve. The deadline for finishing these projects is set for April of next year, allowing the facilities to be operational before the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals scheduled for June. The initiative aims to bolster tourism infrastructure in preparation for the major sporting event. Minister Kijaji emphasized the importance of the project’s timely completion. The development at Pugu–Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve is considered crucial for accommodating the expected influx of visitors during AFCON. This project intends to enhance Tanzania’s tourism offerings and contribute to the success of the AFCON tournament.
