The Tanzanian government has earmarked Sh2.2 billion (approximately $1.7 million USD) for tourism infrastructure development in Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve. This investment is strategically timed to capitalize on the influx of visitors expected during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The funding will be used to build accommodation cottages and entertainment areas within Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve, enhancing facilities for both domestic tourists and AFCON attendees. Officials anticipate that improved tourism offerings will provide diverse entertainment options for football fans. The project aims to boost domestic tourism overall, beyond the event. Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserve is expected to become a more attractive destination as a result of these improvements. This initiative reflects Tanzania’s commitment to leveraging major sporting events for economic growth.
