Recent drone strikes in Sudan have resulted in over 160 deaths, according to medical personnel and human rights organizations. The attacks have extended to Khartoem, where three children were killed in a strike by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), despite the city previously being relatively safe. The majority of casualties occurred in Abyei, southwestern Sudan, where at least 80 people were killed at a transportation hub. The escalating conflict, raging for over three years between the Sudanese government army and the RSF, has become deadlier and more unpredictable with the introduction of drones. These drones, sourced from Iran, Turkey, and reportedly Pakistan for the government, and elsewhere for the RSF, are targeting infrastructure and civilian areas alike, including refugee camps. A United Nations report indicated approximately 1000 deaths from drone attacks in Sudan during the first five months of this year, severely disrupting lives and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
