South Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (보훈부) has introduced an online system for issuing proof of eligibility for funeral benefit waivers for national meritorious individuals (국가유공자). The newly created document, a “National Cemetery Interment Application Fact Confirmation” (국립묘지 안장신청 사실 확인원), simplifies the process of verifying eligibility for fee exemptions when using public crematoria. Previously, obtaining this documentation required in-person visits and longer processing times. This digital implementation aims to reduce administrative burdens and improve accessibility for veterans and their families in Seoul and across the nation. The online service will expedite access to benefits and streamline the use of public crematoria facilities. This initiative reflects a broader effort by the ministry to modernize its services and better support those who have served the country.
