Abdul-Nasser Suglo Alidu, Chief Programme Officer of the 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat in Sierra Leone, has stated the secretariat currently lacks comprehensive data regarding job creation resulting from the government’s 24-hour economy initiative. The flagship policy, aimed at boosting economic activity, has yet to yield a quantifiable total of jobs generated. Alidu indicated the difficulty in accurately assessing employment figures at this stage of implementation. This admission raises questions about the immediate impact and measurable success of the policy in Sierra Leone. The secretariat is working to establish robust data collection methods to better track and report on employment outcomes. Further assessments will be necessary to demonstrate the economic benefits of the 24-hour economy and accelerated export development programs. The lack of current figures doesn’t negate potential long-term gains, but underscores the need for improved monitoring.
