The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) in Belgrade has dismissed criminal complaints filed concerning alleged irregularities during voting abroad. The complaints targeted the Serbian caretaker minister of foreign affairs and members of the Central Electoral Commission. Prosecutors determined that the reported actions did not meet the threshold for criminal prosecution, citing a lack of evidence demonstrating intentionality or significant impact on the election results. The complaints related to procedures at polling stations in locations including countries with large Serbian diasporas. This decision follows a review of allegations surrounding the December 17th parliamentary elections in Serbia. The VJT stated further investigation is not warranted at this time, effectively closing the case. Opposition parties had alleged widespread irregularities aimed at influencing the election outcome.
