Romania’s national assembly has approved a minority government headed by independent diplomat Luca Niculescu. The government received support from 280 elected representatives, with 58 voting against it, on Tuesday. Niculescu stated the new government will end a six-month-long political crisis in Romania. The change in leadership follows the removal of former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, triggered by one of the largest budget deficits in the European Union last year. The formation of this new government represents an attempt to stabilize the nation’s finances and political landscape. This marks a significant shift for Romania as it addresses ongoing economic challenges.
