Poland is experiencing significant economic growth, exemplified by the popularity and upcoming acquisition of the Zabka convenience store chain by Canadian company Alimentation Couche-Tard for approximately 7.5 billion euro. These ubiquitous Zabka stores, easily identified by their green facades, are found throughout Poland, sometimes even directly opposite each other, and cater to consumers seeking quick access to groceries and snacks. The increased spending power of Polish consumers and the country’s attractiveness to foreign investors are key drivers of this economic boom. Experts note Poland has transformed from a struggling post-communist economy to a thriving market for consumer goods, particularly following its accession to the European Union in 2004. This growth is supported by EU subsidies and increased production capacity. Residents of Poland, like Rafal in the centre of Warsaw, value the convenience of Zabka stores, with half of the 37 million population living within 500 meters of one. Economists at the Kozminski University of Warsaw consider Poland the 'growth champion of Europe'.
