The government of Pakistan has revised its gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for FY26 downwards to 3.65 percent, citing slower performance in the industrial and services sectors. This adjustment signifies that Pakistan did not meet its initial GDP target of 3.70pc, a projection made in May 2026, which was already a revision from an earlier estimate of 4pc. The country’s economy reached $450.4 billion in FY26, an increase from $410.96bn in FY25, with the services sector being the primary driver of growth. Despite the overall economic expansion, Pakistan’s per capita income stands at $1,896 in FY26, representing the lowest figure in the region. The revised growth rates for agriculture, industry, and services are 3.50pc, 3.34pc, and 3.81pc, respectively. These figures align broadly with projections from international financial institutions like the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.
